Boracay Island

Once a gratified holder of The World’s Best Island is Boracay Island, a small yet beautiful and infamous island in the region of Visayas.

While the entire island has gone through a series of massive commercialization with a sudden influx of tourism, it continues to hold its charm because of its fine, white sand beach and turquoise waters. In fact, just this year, the island was closed to the public for six full months of rehabilitation. What once was a congested peninsula is now the beautiful, restored Boracay that continues to shine through amidst modernity and commercialization.

Two of its most famous beaches are the White Beach and Puka Shell Beach. White Beach is the longest and most popular on the island with three stations, Stations two and three being the most crowded as it is where the life of the party is. Also, everything here is accessible, from souvenir shops, restaurants, and bars to water sports activities. On top of that, you get the iconic Boracay sunset view, so what’s not to like?

Puka Shell Beach, on the other hand, is much quieter than White Beach. If anything, it’s the complete opposite of White Beach. Tourists go here to escape the busy, noisy and crowded main strip of White Beach. This beach is far more underdeveloped as compared to White Beach, but that’s mainly the reason why it retains its charm. Although unlike White Beach, this beach has more rough sand due to is blending with all the puka shells, hence its name

Are you a fan of Money Heist on Netflix? SPOILER ALERT You should know that the island of Palawan was mentioned in the famous Netflix series.

Now crowned as The World’s Best Island is the Palawan peninsula, where so much beautiful islands and beaches, like El Nido and Coron, are located. Yes, it’s that beautiful and majestic for it to be mentioned in a globally-popular TV series.

CNNGo recognizes El Nido, Palawan as one of the country’s best beaches because of its extraordinary natural splendor and ecosystem. This island is compromised of a whole lot other stunning beaches, namely: Marimegmeg Beach, Nacpan Beach, and Hidden Beach, just to name a few.

Meanwhile, Coron is yet again another beautiful island in Palawan where you can enjoy different water sports and activities like island-hopping and snorkeling. Banul Beach is a popular lunch stop for those who choose to go on an island-hopping tour, where you can indulge in freshly-cooked seafood meals. Coron comes close to El Nido with its rich, fine white sand and crystal waters. Both Palawan islands and all its surrounding beaches have unrivaled over-water sceneries in the form of limestone cliffs, which is very comparable to those in Vietnam.

If you plan to visit the beach over the weekend, and you don’t want to travel that far, Pico de Loro beach resort is your best option. Located in Nasugbu, Batangas, and only about a 90-minute drive away from Manila and Makati Central Business District, Pico de Loro beach has easily become a favorite family beach weekend getaway spot.

However, this is no ordinary beach resort. You must possess membership, or a member should endorse you as their guests in order for you to enter the premises and enjoy lots of recreational activities, both land- and sea-based. But fret not! Each membership comes really worth it since you get to have full access to the beach and country club’s features, amenities, and facilities like adult and kiddie pools, lap pools, restaurants, cafes, bars, and al frescos, function rooms, and a chapel among others. On top of that, you get to enjoy a handful of land- and sea-based recreational activities like cove and mangrove tours, jetskiing, island-hopping, snorkeling, and bird-watching, just to name a few. If you’re heading to Cebu and you’re looking for the best island or beach in the region, then you should definitely go to Bantayan Island!

Bantayan is located in the northernmost part of the province. But don’t worry, your entire trip will surely be worth it because of the island’s pristine white sand and calm aqua blue waters, which is definitely a picturesque and must-see view when you visit Cebu. Fortunately, Bantayan Island is without crowds most time of the year because of its proximity to the city. So it wouldn’t really be much of a challenge to find peace and comfort in this island, which is much-needed, by the way, if you’ve been wanting to escape the hustle and bustle of the concrete jungle. Most importantly, you don’t have to spend so much fortune! Cost of living is relatively cheap, considering the excellent quality and amount of resorts and restaurants offering fresh seafood meals around the area.

Want to experience the survival type of living? Head on over to Iba, Zambales then!

Iba, Zambales is filled with beaches that don’t offer luxurious resorts and hotels as accommodation, but rather, camping grounds and tents for those who want to experience sleeping and waking up at the beach. Pundaquit, specifically, is the town in Zambales that has four coves, namely: Anawangin Cove, Nagsasa Cove, Silanguin Cove, and Talisayen Cove.

Choose one from any of these coves and enjoy a night or two of survival living! You will be provided with tents, wood (for cooking and bonfires), cooler, and mineral water, among others. Make sure to bring in your own paper utensils, though, as these wouldn’t be provided during the entire stay. Also, take note that these are not luxury beaches, so expect common bathrooms to share with other people staying at the cove.

If you have the time, you may also want to hike or trek along its neighbor hills and small mountains to trigger adrenaline. Lastly, you can take a side trip to Capones Island, which has whiter sand and bigger waves.

Now that’s only five out of 7,641 beaches in the Philippines. Can you even imagine if I put everything in this article? It would take you months to finish and cross everything out! Now that you know some of the top beach destinations in the Philippines, what are you waiting for? Make sure to include these five on your list! Although, a little side note: always remember to practice sustainability and respect when visiting any tourist destination! Take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but footprints, and kill nothing but time.
