The Namibian Desert lies in the Southwest Africa. A former German Colony that gained independence in 1990, Namibia is known for its diamond industry and its Xhosa culture. It is a cool coastal desert extending for 1200 miles from the Atlantic coast of Africa. The desert is arid and is almost totally uninhabited, except for a small number of scattered towns. The Namibian Desert is probably one of the most unique places you can visit in your lifetime. The landscapes are gorgeous and you are under the constant impression that you are in the middle of nowhere. Namibia is a huge country, in fact vast and desolate are the two adjectives that perfectly sum up most of the landscapes you will encounter over here.
