Known for ancient Buddhist monasteries, forested hills and snow capped hills, Arunachal Pradesh is located in the far northeast of the country , bordering China and Bhutan. Although hard to reach and less travelled, its pristine landscapes, wildlife and cultural diversity is unparalleled.
Across nine days, this tour introduces you to the impeccable landscapes of Bhalukpong, Dirang, Tawang, Bomdila and the bustling city of Guwahati. While it’s tranquil landscapes combine with its spiritual heritage to bring you some much needed Zen, it also offers plenty of opportunities to for those seeking adventure – hikes, treks and river rafting aplenty.

Arrive at Guwahati Airport, where you’ll be picked up by our representative to drive to Bhalukpong (250 km/6 hr drive).
Bordering the states of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, the scenic vistas of Bhalukpong is unparalleled.
On the way, stop at, Nameri National Park and Tiger Reserve, from the west banks of the River Jia Bharali, boats leave for tours of the thickly forested area on the eastern bank.
Another activity to look forward to is rafting on the Jia Bharali, spot elephants, monkeys and a variety of birds while rafting.
Trekking through the national park is also a listed activity, accompanied by a guard. Be ready to see
herds of elephants, bison and Himalayan black bears during this expedition.
Extremely rich in its flora, the national park continuing into the nearby forests is thriving, with a good prey base of Sambar, Barking Deer, Hog Deer and Gaur for its tiger and leopard populace.

After an early breakfast, drive towards Dirang ( 200 km/7hr drive).
On the way, stop at Tipi Orchidarium, the third largest orchidarium in Asia. Home to 20 species of endangered orchids and are over 500 varieties of orchids, some of them artificially created by scientists.
One of the main attractions of the centre is its glass house, that has around 1000 beautiful exotic orchids in pots and hanging baskets, adding to this beauty is a centrally located(with respect to the research centre) is a pond and a fountain.
Close to the River Kameng, a visit to the Tipi Orchidarium gives you an opportunity to stop for treks, river rafting and fishing.
Upon arrival in Dirang, check into a hotel for the night.

Leave early next morning to spot black-necked cranes at the Sangti valley and drive past the rooftops of the hamlet of Dzongri La.
On the way visit the expansive lush apple and kiwi orchards, with a view of the Himalayas in the background.
Proceed to the Sela pass, quite literally a lifeline to the state of Arunachal Pradesh because it is the only route connecting the Tawang district to the rest of the country. The pass is also home to one of the most beautiful lakes in the country – the Sela Lake.
The Sela Lake and Pass combine to give us astounding Himalayan vistas.
On reaching Tawang, check into a hotel for the night.

After breakfast visit the Tawang War Memorial, commemorative to the soldiers who fought the Sino – Indo War of 1962. The memorial nestled amidst beautiful peaks is designed to look like a stupa and overlooks the Tawang-Chu valley.
For the rest of the day, explore the streets of the picturesque town of Tawang, discover the artisans of the area, who make many types of hats, bags, paintings, hand-woven fabrics, and woven baskets. Visit the town square, savour traditional Tibetan Cusine and experience local culture.

Post breakfast, visit the 17th Century monastery of Tawang. It is second largest Monastery in the world, second only to Potala Palace of Tibet, with the sweeping roofs of the monastery piercing the skyline. The key feature in the monastery is a 26 feet brass statue of Buddha. Believed to be honoured by the visit of Guru Padmasambhava in the 8th Century, the monastery is located on a lofty ridge, amidst breathtaking panoramic views of the valley, with a background of coniferous trees and snow-capped mountains.
Next in line is a visit to, Jaswant Garh.
This beautiful monument commemorates the valour of a soldier who stood his ground single headedly during the Indo-China war of 1962, marking his post.
The rest of the evening is free to spend at your leisure, shopping or exploring this idyllic town.
Head back to the hotel for the night.

Early morning,drive out to see the Nuranang waterfalls is elevated at six thousand feet and is one of the most stunning waterfalls in the state of Arunachal Pradesh. Originating at the Sela Pass, the Nuranang River forms the waterfalls to plunge into the Tawang River.
Continue on the drive down to Bomdila (185 km,7 hr).
On arrival, check into a hotel for the night.

After breakfast, check out of the hotel and head on a picturesque drive (325 km,7 hr 20 min) to Guwahati.

A visit to Guwahati is incomplete without a visit to the Kamakhya temple, Navagraha temple, Umananda temple, Balaji Temple and the State Zoo.
The ride up to the Kamakhya temple gives one various rest stops, to stop and take in scenic vistas.
As beautiful as this, is the Umananda temple, located in the Peacock Island on the River Bhramaputra, has been reconstructed after the original temple was destroyed in the 1897 earthquake. You’ll have to reach the temple either by taking a ferry from across the bank at Guwahati or North Guwahati.
The Navagraha Temple, of immense religious significance, is located on a hill in the eastern part of the city of Guwahati. The temple also functions as a research centre of both astrology and astronomy. Marked by a gigantic red dome, it is hard to miss, located on the south-eastern part of the Guwahati town on the crest of a hill known as ‘Citracala’.
Stop at the state zoo, housing a number of animals like rhinos, monkeys, and pelicans , the zoo is vibrant with exotic flora and fauna and is located in the beautiful setting of Madgharia hills.
In the evening prepare for a cruise on the river Brahmaputra River, one of the most surreal experiences that the state has to offer.
