Itinerary

DAY 1:Arrival in Rome

Upon your arrival at the airport, you will be transferred to your hotel. Following check-in, you will have time to unpack and relax. We will be going for a small evening stroll through the charming streets of Rome and get acquainted with each other at dinner time.

DAY 2:The Vatican

We will begin our day early after a quick breakfast at the hotel and head towards the Vatican. We will be providing a Tour Guide who will be explaining the history and importance of the Vatican.
After 45 minutes of bus tour through the Vatican Gardens, our next destination is the Vatican Museums which have historical significance that reflects the artistic and architectural beauty of the High Renaissance. Post this; we visit the Sistine Chapel, the most major art accomplishment that inspired Mannerism. The beauty in the techniques of Michelangelo shines proudly and enchants all those who visit the Chapel. With its impressive frescoes, the Sistine Chapel boasts the most magnificent piece of all time, The Last Judgement by Michelangelo.
We will be having a small break to go for a stroll in the St. Peters Square and the Obelisk. Next we visit the St. Peter’s Basilica, the Italian Renaissance Church and the burial site of St. Peter who was chief among Jesus’ apostles as well as the First Bishop of Rome.
Our next site would be the Papal Palace where we would be going through the Raphael Rooms, Borgia Apartments and Clementine Hall. And to our last site for the day would be the Sant’Anna dei Palafrenieri.

Other Important Points: To visit the Vatican, one must cover their shoulders and legs, so please pack appropriate dresses.

DAY 3:Exploring Rome

Our morning drive after a wholesome breakfast at the hotel will take us to the infamous Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps built by Francesco de Sanctis.
Visit to one of the oldest of the four major Basilicas in Rome, the St. John the Lateran and across the street are the Scala Sancta, the Holy Staircase. And to conclude our day, our last destination is the Basilica of St. Mary Major.

DAY 4:Rome

After a breakfast at the hotel, we will be heading towards the Appian Way which is one of the earliest and strategically most important Roman roads of the ancient republic. This leads to the Domino Quo Vadis Chapel, the Baths of Caracalla, the Arch of Drusus, the Tomb of Cecilia Metella, the Catacombs of St. Callixtus and Basilica of St. Paul, outside the walls.
Afterwards, we will be heading for the tomb of Saint John Paul II and Castel Sant’Angelo, post which we will have a nice evening stroll nearby the River Tiber.
Return to the hotel for dinner

DAY 5:Rome - Monte Cassino - San Giovanni Rotondo

an early breakfast at the hotel and we will be boarding a bus through a scenic route through the Roman Countryside which is inherently famous for its wine and vineyards leading us to Monte Cassino. Following this, the bus will continue toward San Giovanni Rotondo, the hometown of Saint Padre Pio.
Rest of the day can be spent at leisure.

DAY 6:San Giovanni Rotondo

You will experience the countryside and the scenic ocean views around San Giovanni Rotondo. You will visit the Old Church and touring the sanctuary; after which we will be heading to the beautiful Gargano Peninsula to the Grotto of St. Michael the Archangel, a shrine consecrated by St. Michael. Following time can be spent for leisure and return to hotel afterwards.

*The Candlelight Procession – Between May and October, you can attend the weekly Candlelight Procession at the Sanctuary of St. Pio after dinner at 9:00 PM. These processions are lit by candlelight and are guided by the Most Holy Rosary. Following this spiritual and inspirational experience, you will return to your hotel for a restful overnight.

DAY 7:San Giovanni Rotondo- Assisi

Our day will start by us heading towards Assisi, the birthplace of Italy’s patron saint, St. Francis. We will be passing through Lanciano,we will be visiting the Church of St. Longinus where the site of the Eucharistic Miracle that occurred in the eighth century. As we continue, we will make a pit stop at Loreto, towards the Adriatic coast to the great Marian shrine of Loreto to visit the Holy House of Nazareth, and the beautiful Madonna of Loreto after which we will continue to Assisi.

DAY 8:Assisi

We will start start your tour at the St. Francis Basilica, visit his tomb of St. Francis and take a look his prized possessions and frescoes that depict pieces of his life. After this, we will be taking a walk around the town and head towards the walls of Assisi, to the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels. During this time here, you will have the chance to visit the beautiful Rose Garden where St. Francis and other friars lived, as well as the cave where the Saint retired to pray.

DAY 9:Gubbio - La Verna

After an early breakfast,we will be driving through the beautiful Umbrian mountains to Gubbio and get to enjoy this medieval town with a visit of St. Francis Church and continue towards La Verna where you will be able to pray in the Chapel of the Stigmata, the Basilica and the Chapel of Saint Mary of the Angels, as well as admire the masterpieces by Andrea della Robbia. we will be returning to Assisi for dinner and your last overnight.

DAY 10:Departure/ End of trip

After breakfast, you will be transferred to the Perugia San Francesco d’Assisi – Umbria International Airport where you will be boarding your scheduled departure flight after heartfelt goodbyes and wishes.
