Club Mahindra Derby Green sits at an awesome location. As you enter into Ooty (from the Pykara / Masinagudi side), you will find it just off the bus stand and Ooty railway station; yet at a height and distance that doesn’t let the noises come thru. CMH Derby Green overlooks the lush green Ooty race course, is very close to the fabulous Fern Hill Palace, and on the way to better Ooty sites like Red Hills, Emerald and Avalanche.
Rooms are small, as you would expect in a hill station but cosy; most rooms come with a small living area and a balcony. Views from most rooms are fabulous as every room looks onto the race course. The property has a large restaurant that serves very nice food. It also has a very large “fun zone” on the upper reaches, where there are recreational activities for everyone in the family. There are enough “green zones” in the property to take the views in from. There is ample parking in the resort, though sometimes if over-crowded, you have to park on the twisting turning roads inside the resort.
The toy train station, bus stand and I would say even Fernhill Palace & Charring cross are walkable. I have stayed mostly in Derby Green whenever I head for Ooty and the place has never disappointed.
Don’t go for Hotel Unit rooms in the property!
