Stayed there for 2N in Dec. The first thing one would complain about will be the approach road – almost Everest like and not maintained by DMC. However, they had porters who got the luggage and thereafter Sinclair proved at every corner that is a nice place to stay.
Here are my observations:
1) Locationally for the price, this is a great place to stay – 5 mins walk to the Mall, and 5 mins to the Darjeeling train station (you won’t like to miss the toy train), 5 mins to the Rink Mall if you want to catch a movie at night.
2) The hotel and some room balconies provide you one of the best views of Kanchenjunga – my best clicks are from this hotel in this tour. Rooms were clean and had enough sunshine / sunlight, though not all rooms have mountains outside to look at.
3) Great food in the restaurant. Many a times we compared our outside lunch with what we were served here and found that to be better. Awesome service and the staff were amazingly polite.
4) Free Wi-Fi and it worked everywhere. Great hotel lobby to sit and chit-chat with a pool table and a handy bar. It’s a very cozy setting.
Overall, I’d recommend it to everyone. Now if that approach road was taken care of by the authorities….
Room Tip: Specifically ask for Kanchenjunga facing rooms, which should be towards the front façade
